CHANEL / J12 ANIMATED GRAPHIC NOVEL
Stealing Time is an animated graphic novel told in six episodes, and created for Chanel in honor of the iconic J12 watch. The story, written by acclaimed filmmaker Elizabeth Wood and illustrated by award-winning comic artist Rafael Grampá, is a modern interpretation of a classic film noir detective story, and features a diverse cast of characters who never allow time (or anything) control them.
Stealing Time ran as an interactive, multilingual graphic novel on the websites of 9 international editions of Vogue.
The traditional comic frame format was reimagined for universal vertical mobile phone viewing by an international audience in 9 countries. All 6 episodes were translated into 9 different languages for publication in international editions of Vogue — from Germany to Japan, Korea and Russia.
Chanel’s brand codes, symbols, and references to iconic pieces from Chanel collections were integrated into the story and artwork (e.g. the Chanel lion statue).

The complete graphic novel was printed in English and French editions as a gift for Chanel clients in store.
